Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Think Faster Languages (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, why, and what rights you have. The service is provided by Think Faster Languages Ltd(“the provider”), and this policy is governed by the law of England and Wales and written to the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who is responsible for your data
The provider named above is the “data controller” for your personal data - the party that decides how and why it is used.
What we collect
- Account details - your email address, and a name if you give one. Your password is stored securely (hashed) by our login provider; we never see it in plain text.
- Learning data - your course progress, streaks, daily activity, lesson notes, and any custom lessons you generate.
- Purchase data - what you have bought or subscribed to, your entitlements, and gift codes you buy or redeem. We do not store your card details - card payments are handled entirely by Stripe (web) or Apple / Google (in the apps).
- Security data - limited technical information needed to keep accounts safe, such as failed login attempts and session information used for the one-device sign-in and account-lockout features.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide the service (run your account, save progress, unlock what you paid for) - legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To keep the service secure (prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorised access) - legal basis: our legitimate interests.
- Optional features you switch on, such as “Continue with Google” sign-in - legal basis: your consent.
We do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising or ad-tracking.
The companies that process data for us
We use trusted service providers (“processors”) who handle data only on our instructions:
- Supabase - our database, login system and audio storage.
- Vercel - hosts and serves the website.
- Stripe - processes web payments.
- Apple, Google and RevenueCat - process in-app purchases on phones.
- ElevenLabs - converts lesson text to audio.
- Anthropic (Claude), and OpenAI as an optional backup - generate the text of custom lessons from the topic you request. We do not send your account identity to them, only the lesson request.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where data is transferred abroad, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or equivalent standard contractual clauses.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies needed to keep you logged in and to run the service securely. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep certain records (for example basic transaction records for tax and accounting) for as long as the law requires.
Children
The service is open to language learners of any age. If you are under 13, you may only use it with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf and is responsible for supervising your use. We do not knowingly collect data from a child under 13 without that consent; if you believe a child has signed up without it, contact us and we will remove the account.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- restrict or object to certain uses;
- withdraw any consent you gave.
To exercise any of these, email support@thinkfasterlanguages.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we’d appreciate the chance to help first.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a significant change we will let you know, and the “last updated” date above always shows the current version.
